Far took me ages to get something uploaded. Here are just a few unfinished speed painting sessions that I have been working on. Nothing serious... just practice more than anything really. I had more on my laptop which died so I am not happy with that. I hope to upload more though - just to check the progress.

Mihka's CD cover design

Design I did for Mihka's cd cover minus the album name and other words and focussed on the girl with ta mokos. Took ages to finish - and kept playing around with it for ages after that tweaking here and there. Got the idea from people that like to wear hoodies with no sleeves, so the can hide their eyes (or hair dos) but show their arms (Not even Aaow). Or the girl as a symbol of maori culture being protected from commercialisation. Maybe I don't know. I just tried to create in Photoshop a dream I had and the feelings from it. I never get any where close but the image looks cool in the end. Everyone I showed it to has a different interpretation which is cool to hear as well. 

Ta moko sketch1

Just a sketch of a work in progress.... Left arm area. I have done so many of these I can come up with sketches just from learning more about the person its for. I can also draw inspiration from the style of music they listen to most, their role in their family, etc etc. Plus I like to do bold, thicker line work and make it look awesome.

Seriously don't copy aye... This one has specific meanings to the intended wearer and wont suit anyone else. ill put more up soon. Sorry for the watermark too.

New Blog- Aja's cd cover design

Lets get it started!

My brother Aja Timu is in a few popular metal bands in NZ such (as Stylus, Blindspott, Take the willing just to name a few) and has been into that scene for a few years now. 

His latest band 'the Gaze' is getting ready to record their first EP this month and I have been given the opportunity to design his cd cover! (Which reminds me I got to update their myspace page! )

He just told me to make it 'dark' and this is what happened! The darkest day is I think is the Armageddon, where everyone gets a hiding. Thats Mena standing on the cliff watching it all happen. Lots of fun to do. Of course its not completely finished as the band logo still has go on the front and the inside cover as well which will most likely have all their shout outs and stuff. Pretty cool aye? Well the band like it!
